Tweets And YouTube Videos Enter UK National Archives

The UK’s National Archives agency recently announced on its website that it will start archiving YouTube videos and tweets posted by UK central government departments. This is in line with a technical project aimed at capturing social media in the UK Government Web Archive, so that it is preserved as the official public record for future generations. More than 7,000 YouTube videos dating from 2006 to early 2014 have found their way into the UK government social media archive and so have over 65,000 tweets dated from 2008 to September 2013.
